I used to do my own bookkeeping manually. It was time consuming. I always had this nagging feeling that it was time that I wasn’t focusing on my core business.
I decided to use FreeAgent to handle my bookkeeping, and heard about Receipt Bank through one of their tweets.
I like to use the service in conjunction with Dropbox, as this allows me to maintain my own backup. Previously, I was using a desktop scanner to digitize everything but now I just use my iPhone.
I downloaded an app called Quickshot, which transfers photos immediately to the Receipt Bank folder in my Dropbox. I take the photo in one click - my receipts are sent directly to Receipt Bank for processing, before passing into FreeAgent.
It saves me so much time. With all the integrations Receipt Bank has, the actual amount of time saved is 3 or 4 times the amount they claim in their email notifications!
Bookkeeping used to require me to set aside a chunk of time, now I just use my smartphone - the stress has evaporated!
