At Receipt Bank we process the receipts and expenses of business big and small across the UK. To do this efficiently and effectively we have to ensure our data processes and quality assurance are strong and secure to avoid duplications, spelling errors, translation errors and many other data entry pitfalls!
A key element of our quality assurance is what we call our Payee Database (ie the database of all the merchants for whom we have processed receipts.) As a window into our business, we thought it would be interesting to publish a snapshot of it...
There are over 3,200 merchants and suppliers on the Payee Database!
The most common supplier is the Post Office (UK) which has accounted for more than 5% of the receipts submitted to Receipt Bank! Tesco is the highest ranking supermarket but it only accounts for 1.2% of receipts submitted. And Starbucks, somewhat surprisingly, only accounts for 0.5%!
We process a large number of receipts in British Pounds, US Dollars and Euros. But our free currency conversion service means that we see receipts and invoices of many different currencies - so far in 2011, we’ve seen Israeli Shekel, Bulgarian Leves, Cambodian Riel and Egyptian Pounds!
The Database is growing everyday and we will provide occasional updates as and when there's something interesting to report!
